How it’s worked out
Annual Leave Law, section 3: 16 days in each of the first 5 years, 18 in year 6, 21 in year 7, then one more a year up to 28. The law counts calendar days with one weekly rest day per 7 leave days. Employed all year but worked under 200 days: pro rata to 200. Employed only part of the year and worked under 240 days: pro rata to 240, no part days. In a 5-day week: 16→12, 18→14, 21→15, 22→16, 23→17, 24→18, 25→19, 26→20, 27→20, 28→20 work days, per the Knesset Research and Information Center table (2021), based on the Ministry of Labor. The 1990 short-week extension order gives 10, 11, 12, 17, 23 days in a 5-day week for years 1–2, 3–4, 5, 6–8 and 9 on, and the higher of the law and the order applies. The order covers only the branches in its schedule (industry, crafts, security, cinemas, insurance, cleaning, import and export, wholesale and the listed business services), not workplaces with fewer than 4 employees, not government or municipal companies, and not where a collective agreement set the short week. A collective agreement or contract can give more.
